Our Philosophy

Allegheny Ballet offers individuals of all ages the best in dance training. From beginning boys and girls through advanced men and women, the school provides carefully structured classes in progressive levels of achievement. The school faculty places strong emphasis on individual attention and corrections. Instruction at the Allegheny Ballet is not solely for the serious dancer, as those interested in dance as a recreational activity also have the opportunity to work with our talented staff. Dance helps to develop a strong, flexible, and graceful form, as well as provides cultural experiences that will contribute to mature development and social refinement. Our alumni are members of the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and many other companies throughout the country.

Creative Movement (4 years of age)

Emphasis on imagination, self-expresion & movement.

Girls wear pink leotards, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Black tap shoes are needed & hair is in a neat bun.

Focus on energy, individual confidence & early vocabulary.

Level 2 (for 1st - 2nd grades)

Emphasis on proper technique and building a vocabulary of steps.

Girls wear black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair in a neat bun for ballet. Any solid colored leotard and tights may be worn for tap and jazz with hair in a pony-tail and any tap and jazz shoes.

Level 3 (for 2nd - 3rd grades)

Emphasis on class structure and proper technique with an expanding range of steps.

Girls wear black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair in a neat bun for ballet. Any solid colored leotard and tights may be worn for tap and jazz with hair in a pony-tail and any tap and jazz shoes.

Girls wear black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, pink pointe shoes, and hair in a neat bun for ballet. Any solid colored leotard and tights may be worn for tap and jazz with hair in a pony-tail and tap and jazz shoes.

Focus on perfect technique, execution of all steps, Pointe, Variations, Men's Class & Partnering are added as well as many more performance opportunities. Extra classes & rehearsals are posted as needed.

Boys Dress Code - All boys in all levels wear a white t-shirt tucked into thick black tights, dance belt (athletic supporter) & black ballet shoes. Any jazz and tap shoes can be worn for jazz and tap.
